I have the newest garment,
I love to wear it right;
For hidden in its colored stripes
Is a great delight.
Each color holds a piece, you see,
Of a story dear and true;
And because I love it so,
I'm sharing it with you!

I found that poem over the internet about colored stripes (originally it’s about blanket) and modified it a bit. The same about the trend, which is not new to the world, but differently styled for Spring/Summer 2011 and ongoing Autumn/Winter. And colored stripes are always my favorite pattern.
Thanks to high street brands that they really embrace this trend.
Stripes magnify and draw instant attention wherever we wear them. I will remind that the horizontal stripes make us broader, so consciously choose stripes to dress up. Karen Millen plays wisely by placing panels to frame a shape. Mango’s circular stripes hide hips. Diagonal stripes are flattering for all body types, but V stripes in Bebe piece will camouflage hips too and make us taller at the same time. Verticals will lengthen the body.
Styling tips for the modern look:
- Inject solid brights with this pattern
- Combine horizontal, vertical or diagonal stripes together like in Mango dresses
- Play with different width of stripes and colors like in Prada
- Try color stripes with achromatic geometric patterns like polka dot, zigzag and etc.
Do not wear stripes from head to toe, otherwise people around you will feel dizzy!
