Colorblock

A lot of us played wood color block pyramid toy in our childhood and now it’s time for grownups to experiment with bold colors this year. It’s all about mixing and matching solid colors in one garment or building a look. Just do not end up like a clown, where are some tips, according to color wheel theory.
Primary colors: These are colors that cannot be created through the mixing of other colors: red, yellow and blue.  Play with breaking between these clashing colors with big panels of white, nudes, black or grey like in Yves Saint Lauren Mondrian vintage 50’s dress. Or blend only two colors like Maurizio Pecoraro in Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
Primary colors that are mixed together produce secondary colors: orange, green and violet.  Quiet intense combination, so try to tone down one or two of the colors like Gucci. Use bright color to draw attention to your best assets.
Complimentary colors: Hues on opposite sides of the color wheel are complementary colors. For example, use the same intensity of blue and orange for a brave combination, for example Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2011 look.
Analogous colors: Combinations of two or three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel are pleasing to the eye. Red, orange, and yellow go well together in the dress by PPQ.
Monochromatic colors: Varying the intensity of a single color can create a beautiful combination. Pair dark, medium, and light shades of your favorite color for a soothing color scheme like Cynthia Steffe. It’s considered very safe for color block trend and easiest to wear.
To minimize unwanted curves find a garment with darker/neutral panels covering them or draw attention away by placing brighter color away from problematic zones.  Play wise with vertical blocks/stripes to lengthen your body, with horizontal – to broaden necessary areas. Diagonal stripes/blocks are more versatile and compliment all body types.
Finish the look with shoes and a bag in juicy colors...

                                                                     Happy coloring :)
